Actor Riteish Deshmukh might have been sidelined as an actor with comic potential in Hindi cinema, but he is certainly coming into his own in the Marathi industry. After his last film Lai Bhaari (2014) proved to be a hit, the actor's action avatar in Mauli looks to repeat the magic.
The teaser captures the attitude, and the Marathi swag of Deshmukh's arrogant policeman in Aditya Sarpotdar's film. The title 'Mauli' often used to refer to Lord Vitthala in Pandharpur is used as a motif throughout the teaser. From the first glimpse of the 'palkhi' (cradle) to the sight of Deshmukh's hero bashing goons with bricks is quite effective.
The teaser has enough punchlines to go with the punches thrown by its hero. From its first look released on Thursday, the film seeks to replicate the magic of the commercial entertainer that was Lai Bhaari (2014), which saw the actor play a character named Mauli. However, Mauli seems to be more in the mould of the Salman Khan-starrer, Dabangg (2010) and Rowdy Rathore (2012) in its treatment.
The film will also mark the Marathi debut of actress Saiyami Kher.
With the music of Ajay-Atul providing the background, the film will be released on 14 December.
