After the success of Sacred Games and Ghoul, Netflix has set its sights on the next thriller series for its Indian audience. The digital platform has announced a ghost thriller series set in Goa, to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh.
According to a Variety report, the series will be about a haunted book that stirs the imagination of a group of wannabe ghost hunters. The story takes a turn after a new family comes to live in the house, with the ghost hunters unable to balance their chores and the hunt of the ghost.
The series marks another addition to the growing list of programmes by Netflix targeted at the Indian audiences. The popularity of the Vikramaditya Motwane-led Sacred Games, followed by Ghoul, set the tone for Netflix India.
The platform also has a cricket-themed drama Selection Day set for a 28 December launch. The channel had also announced Emraan Hashmi as the lead of the series, Bard of Blood, co-produced with Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, in July this year.
Ghosh's series, Typewriter, was revealed by Simran Sethi, India content executive for Netflix at a content showcase in Singapore on Thursday. The channel is expected to unveil its plan for eight original films for the India audience soon.
Ghosh has just finished his schedule for the Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu-starrer Badla, which will be released in theatres on 8 March 2019.
