After the trailer of Aanand L Rai's Zero (2018) was launched on Shah Rukh Khan's birthday on 2 November, the anticipation of the upcoming film co-starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma has only grown. The Hindi film is the lone Christmas release on 21 December.

In Maharashtra, however, Zero was due to have competition as Riteish Deshmukh's second Marathi film, Mauli (2018), was supposed to be released on the same day. The film also stars Saiyami Kher, who is making her Marathi film debut.

Mauli will now be postponed as Khan requested his 'little brother' Riteish to delay the clash of the two films. Khan took to Twitter to thank him, saying "Thank you baby for the love respect and largesse of heart you showed me today. Grateful. Touched. I am so happy to have ‘asked’ something of a friend who kept my self respect higher than his own need." Deshmukh simply said, "I love you," back to the star.

The new release date of Mauli, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Zero will be released unopposed until Rohit Shetty's Simmba (2018) starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan hits the theatres a week later.
