Actor Shashank Ketkar played the lead for the first time in the Marathi movie 31 Diwas, which was released earlier this year. The film turned out to be a flop but the actor received praises for his performance.
He will now be seen as the lead in director Omkar Ramesh Shetty’s Aaron. It’s an Indo-French production. You rarely get to see a Marathi film being made in collaboration with a foreign banner. The film was screened at the Hyderabad and Pondicherry film festivals in this year.
Apart from Ketkar, the film stars Neha Joshi [of Poshter Boyz and Nude fame], Atharva Padhye and foreign actors Antoinette Fekete and Toth Barnabas. Interestingly, it marks the Marathi film debut of well-known Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee.
It is difficult to make out the story of the film from this trailer, which might be a deliberate move. The film tells the story of two people (Ketkar and Padhye), who are in search of their mother. Their quest leads them on an unusual journey. Joshi, Fekete and Barnabas become a part of their journey.
Aaron is also shot in Paris. Very few Marathi films are shot in foreign locations.
Aaron will be out in theatres on 7 December.
