A fire broke out on the sets of director Aanand L Rai’s Zero in Mumbai’s Filmcity last evening. Actor Shah Rukh Khan was shooting when the incident took place. As per news agency PTI [Press Trust of India], the actor escaped unhurt.

The fire took place at the electric wiring and installation and it affected the shooting material like ropes and curtains. The agency also reported that an eyewitness saw smoke emerging from one of the studios. About four to five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the blaze.

This is not the first incident of fire on the sets of a big budget film with a big star this year.

In April, a massive fire had broken out on the sets of Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Kesari in Wai, Maharashtra. The incident happened just 10 days before the shoot was supposed to be wrapped up. The team was shooting the climax of the film with Akshay. He had left the sets when the incident took place.

Zero is also facing other trouble. Some Sikh groups have opposed the film after Khan was seen wearing a Kirpan [holy dagger] in one of the scenes in the trailer. They have filed a petition in the Bombay high court, which will be heard today.
