Siddharth Roy Kapur has added yet another story to his growing slate of projects for Roy Kapur Films. The producer has purchased the rights to the story of Rajaram Tiwari, Kumbh Mela's 'lost and found' man.
Tiwari owes his nickname, Bhule Bhatke Tiwari, to his charitable act of reuniting families separated during the crowded Kumbh Mela that takes place in Allahabad every dozen years. The story has been covered in the international press through periodicals like The Los Angeles Times and on the BBC.
Tiwari has done this charitable act through a service he began in 1946. Roy Kapur and his team met the man and his son, Umesh Tiwari, before purchasing the rights to his story for a film.
The producer is already producing The Sky Is Pink, starring Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar, as well as Ballet Boys and Sindbad.
In addition, Roy Kapur Films is backing the Rakesh Sharma biopic, Saare Jahaan Se Achchha, featuring Shah Rukh Khan. The film is expected to go on the floors in February 2019.
