Ayushmann Khurrana, the reigning king of the box office with back-to-back hits in Andhadhun (2018) and Badhaai Ho (2018), will begin filming for his next project soon.
The actor has been paired with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018) actress Nushrat Bharucha for the untitled comedy directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa.
The stars were seen with their producer, Ekta Kapoor, and director Shaandilyaa at Juhu's newest and exclusive club Soho House last night, likely discussing details of their upcoming film.
Shaandilyaa, a dialogue writer on Welcome Back (2015), Freaky Ali (2016) and Bhoomi (2018), makes his directorial debut with the film.
He has written the dialogues for Jabariya Jodi (2019), starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, also produced by Ekta Kapoor.
The Khurrana-Bharucha project is said to be a "quirky and crazy" film set in Faridabad, Haryana, and shooting begins in December.
The lead pair is being cast together for the first time. Bharucha also has a project opposite Rajkummar Rao in Hansal Mehta's Turram Khan.
In a press statement, Bharucha said, "After working with Ekta in the past [she was part of Kapoor's production LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhoka (2010)], this is a homecoming of sorts for me. I am excited to work with Ayushmann for this comedy entertainer. This year has been favourable for content-driven films and this film will, hopefully, continue this tide."
Ekta and her mother Shobha Kapoor, wife of yesteryear star Jeetendra, are also producing filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastava's next film, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, starring Konkona Sensharma and Bhumi Pednekar.
