The trailer of director S Shankar’s 2.0, suggests that Akshay Kumar will be seen playing a menacing villain in a war with mankind using technology. However, during the launch of the ‘Tu Hi Re’ song from the film, the actor informed that his character is much deeper. "It’s not just an antagonist. There are a lot of shades. That’s a very interesting point," said the actor, adding that this is why he agreed to do the film.
Akshay expressed how amazed he was by the working style of the film's international team. "When I went to LA [Los Angeles], the whole structure they had put there was an amazing experience. I sat down and my whole body was scanned and everything was taken and measured. It was an experience. I didn’t know something [like this] exists. I would say there is so much to learn from Shankar sir. The way he has taken the whole movie," he said.

The actor said that it would have been worth it even if he had to pay the film's makers for casting him, instead of them paying him. "To be honest, I got paid for this movie, but I should have paid them,” he said.
When prodded about the film, Akshay didn’t reveal much but said, “Let me tell you that in a way this is a social film. I can’t reveal more. But when you watch the film you will realize why I am saying it.”
Shankar added to this, saying, "We can call it a sci-fi-socio-thriller."
Starring Rajinikanth in the lead, 2.0 is all set to be released on 29 November.
