Just as one wedding ends, the preparation for another begins. Even as Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh landed in Bengaluru for their big reception, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas set out wedding shopping for their big day on 2 December. The Mary Kom (2014) actress is set to tie the knot with the American pop star in Jaipur next month. But before that, the actress put out an eclectic wedding registry in association with the shopping brand, Amazon.
A wedding registry is a collection of gifts that an engaged couple often selects in advance of their big day. While most couples would go for gifts that would help them settle in the new residence, Chopra has an eclectic collection of choices which include dumbbells, pet trackers, and of course, a turntable disc for her music preferences.
As part of her role as the UN global ambassador for children welfare, the actress has also asked Amazon to make a $100,000 donation to UNICEF in turn for her registry. But despite the charity, it was Chopra's selection that truly got people's attention.
Speaking to People magazine, Chopra described her choice of gifts in detail. About the record player, the magazine quoted the actress as saying, "I just love the sound — I play everything from Ariana Grande to The Chainsmokers on my record player. It looks so cool. And every party with me ends up in a dance party. It just has to happen!"
The actress certainly enjoys her music having cut two major albums, as well as showing off her dance skills recently at her own bachelorette party at Tiffany's in New York.
In addition to a record player, the actress also has quite a few goodies for her pet dog, Diana. These include a rain jacket and a pet activity tracker. Speaking to People magazine, Chopra said, "She lives a good life, let’s just say."
There is also a very stylish silk sleeping mask, tagged 'wifey' included in the registry.
Despite her growing status as a style icon, Chopra seems to have returned to some memories of her teenage self when looking for gifts. The actress has picked up a pair of rollerblades for herself and Jonas, as well as a set of dumbbells.
While the dumbbells are understandable for her workout routine, the rollerblades are a more nostalgic choice, as Chopra explained, "That is my 1990s teen calling out to me. When I was in high school in the 1990s, I used to rollerblade and I thought I was all that. I haven’t done it for awhile. I wonder if Nick can rollerblade!"
Some of the other gifts on the list include a Vitamix blender, a wireless printer and throwpillows making it a little more ordinary. The couple have also booked a $2500 OLED television for themselves. With their gaming routines now legendary, Jonas might have a bigger screen to battle Chopra on.
Her recent trip to Chandni Chowk for a shooting schedule brought the traffic to a standstill.
The actress is set to tie the knot with Jonas in a lavish wedding on 2 December. This will be preceded by a sangeet ceremony on 29 November, followed by a mehendi funciton on 30 November. The pre-wedding ceremonies will be held at the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur, while the wedding will take place in the lavish Umaid Bhavan palace.
