Richa Chadha goes for gold in first look poster of Shakeela

The first look of Shakeela, featuring Richa Chadha, captures the two diverse aspects of the actress and character, Shakeela. The title of the film, Shakeela, was released at the beginning of the month, with the tagline — Not A Porn Star. That tagline seems to be the perspective on the character of Shakeela that the film seeks to put forth. 

The first look poster features Chadha as the former actress Shakeela, clad in nothing but gold jewelry. While the look might feel ostentatious, the background offers a very different perspective. The curses and slanderous graffiti on the backdrop are a peek into the ridicule and insults borne by Shakeela even as she struggled to make her way through a cut-throat industry. 

Yet, the defiant and a bit bemused look on the face of Chadha in the poster is a mark of how Shakeela treated her detractors. 

The film is directed by Indrajit Lankesh and produced by Magic Cinemas and Yoddhas Entertainment. 

Featuring Pankaj Tripathi and Chadha, the biopic is set to be released in the summer of 2019.
