Bar Council of Delhi sends legal notice to Amitabh Bachchan for wearing lawyer’s coat in masala ad

Celebrities can be dragged to court for bizarre reasons. Actor Amitabh Bachchan is being threatened with a lawsuit, all because he wore a lawyer’s coat in an advertisement, as reported by the portal The Statesman.

The advertisement in question is Everest Masala, a brand which Bachchan endorses. The Bar Council of Delhi has issued a notice to the actor, manufacturer of the masala brand and also video blogging site, YouTube. The Bar Council of Delhi has demanded that the telecast of such advertisements be stopped immediately.

"You are required to immediately stop all such advertisements and also give an undertaking to the Bar Council of Delhi, Bar Council of India and other states Bar Councils that the lawyer's attire shall not be used in any advertisement in future,” the notice read.

They have given Bachchan and the others 10 days to respond to the notice.

As seen in the advertisement, Bachchan is wearing a lawyer’s coat, with a prisoner and a policeman, both offering him pav bhaji.

Another Bachchan ad [Kalyani Jewellers] had to be withdrawn after a few people objected to the portrayal of bank employees in it.

The veteran actor is currently gearing up for the release of his film Thugs Of Hindostan on 8 November.
