LIFFT India 2018 to present awards in fields of theatre, sculpture art, journalism


Well-known film and theatre personality Atul Kumar will be awarded the LIFFT India Honour for Theatre for his overall contribution to the world of dramatics.

The second edition of the LIFFT (Literature, Information, Film Frame, Television) India Filmotsav – World Cine Fest will be held from 6-10 December at the Fariyas resort in Lonavala.

The festival has added a few awards this year. Theatre and film personality Atul Kumar will be given the LIFFT India Honour for Theatre for his overall contribution to the performing art.

Arvind Kumar will be presented the LIFFT India Honour for Literature and Film Journalism for his extensive work in the field. He is the creator of India’s first thesaurus for Hindi, known as the Samaantarosh and founder-editor of reputed Hindi film magazine Madhuri.

For his contribution to wax-sculpture art in India, Sunil Kandalloor will be awarded the LIFFT India Honour for Frame.

Veteran filmmaker Rahul Rawail will be conferred the Lifetime Achievement LIFFT India award for his contribution to international cinema.

The awards will be presented on 6 December, at the opening ceremony.

LIFFT India Filmotsav will also feature a fashion show, organized by the LIFFT India Repertory. It will be spearheaded by Mr National Universe, Farqan Qureshi, and will exclusively feature the designs of eminent fashion designer Mumtaz Khan.

This year, the festival will screen 120 films from 30 countries in 27 languages. Of these, 47 are directed by first-time filmmakers.

The festival will also host a series of masterclasses with prominent people from the Hindi film industry, including screenwriter Anjum Rajabali, actress Nayani Dixit, cinematographer Aseem Bajaj and casting director Priyata Dixit.
