Director Nishikant Kamat’s Lai Bhaari (2014), which saw actor-producer Riteish Deshmukh play a double role, paid tribute to Lord Vitthal at numerous occasions through the film. Now, a sequel to Lai Bhaari, titled Mauli, is set to be released on 14 December.

Going by the first song released by the film's makers, titled ‘Majhi Pandharichi Maay’, the devotion to lord Vitthal is taken to a higher level in Mauli.

The song was released yesterday (18 November) on the occasion of Ekadashi, when thousands of Vitthal devotees throng to Pandharpur to pray to the deity.

Real footage from Pandharpur has been used in the song that has devotees dancing, chanting and carrying the paalkhi (palanquin) of Vitthal. In between these shots, we see the film’s lead pair, Deshmukh and Saiyami Kher, and composer duo Ajay-Atul, singing the song. Near the end, the song also gives space to some fight sequences from the film.

Overall, ‘Majhi Pandharichi Maay’ is an enjoyable devotional track that will touch the hearts of worshippers of Vitthal. Given that the film is a tribute to lord Vitthal, the song fits well as a promo. As expected from the celebrated composer duo Ajay-Atul, their tune is exhilarating. Ajay has sung the song with the right amount of passion needed.

The only glitch here is that the song is over seven minutes in duration, which is quite long. Also, the visuals of the two artistes and composers singing together become repetitive by the time the song ends.

Mauli is all set to be released on 14 December.
