Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi made a smashing comeback in front of the arc lights last year with the highly successful Khaidi No 150.
More than a year after the film’s release, he is shooting for the highly anticipated drama Syeraa Narasimha Reddy, in which he plays Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, a freedom fighter from Kurnool.
Being made on a lavish budget of Rs175 crore, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sudeep, Nayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles.
With the project gearing up for release next year during summer, it has been confirmed that Chiranjeevi will team up next with Koratala Siva and begin shooting for his project in January 2019.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Chiranjeevi will join hands with Trivikram after the project with Koratala Siva. While not much is known about the film, a source said Chiranjeevi has already given his nod to the project which will be bankrolled by DVV Danayya, producer of SS Rajamouli’s next film with Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Details regarding the project are awaited.
All eyes, meanwhile, are on Syeraa Narasimha Reddy, which was announced with much fanfare in August last year. After the Baahubali films, it is believed to be the most exciting multi-starrer to emerge from the South.
On signing the project, Chiranjeevi had said it was his long-time desire to play a historic character. Last year, on his show Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, Chiranjeevi said he regretted missing out an opportunity to play the legendary Bhagat Singh.
"It had always been my dream to play Bhagat Singh," he said. "Despite being offered the role back then, I couldn’t play it for several reasons and it was later played by several of my counterparts. It was played by several actors across languages. I regret missing out on the opportunity because I don’t think anyone wants to make a film on him today."
