Buoyed by the response to her latest release Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Tumhari Sulu (2017), actress Jyotika is now gearing up to commence work on her next project, which will be directed by debutant S Raj.
The yet-untitled film was launched earlier this week in Chennai and regular shooting for it will commence from next month. She also has another project with a debutant director in her husband Suriya’s production banner 2D Entertainment. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Jyotika is most likely to sign a film with director Gopi Nainar, who made a sensational debut with Nayanthara’s Aramm (2018).
Apparently, Gopi recently met Jyotika and pitched the story of a thriller that unfolds entirely in a house and he convinced her that he could shoot the film in flat 20 days, provided she agrees to attend six days of rehearsals before shoot. While reliable sources close to Jyotika have confirmed that she met Gopi and heard his story, she hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet. It’s worth mentioning that Gopi will commence work on Aramm 2 with Nayanthara from February 2019. In a recent interview, he clarified that Nayanthara isn’t playing a politician in the film, which will be produced KJR Studios.
With an exciting line-up of projects in her kitty, it’s been a great year for Jyotika, who continues to shine in handpicked roles. From a playing a foul-mouthed police officer in Naachiyaar (2018) to the wife of a gangster in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018), Jyotika is playing strong, independent female characters on screen.
