Days after his character as the ambitious salesman-turned-crusader in Tigers was revealed in the trailer, Emraan Hashmi is back as a very shady, but sharp fixer in Soumik Sen's Cheat India. The film is set around the growing corruption and fixing racket in India's education and entrance exam systems.
The teaser reveals the working of Rakesh Singh (Emraan Hashmi) who plays god to the desires and ambitions of a million parents and students who want entry into their favoured institutions. As Singh says, "There are lakhs of applicants, but the seats are only in thousands." The teaser reveals Singh's modus operandi of getting qualified students to write entrance exams for others at a high cost.
Dramatically cut, with a pompous music, the teaser reveals quite a lot about the plot and premise of Cheat India. Hashmi looks the part as the ruthless fixer who only looks at the scam as an effective way of balancing out the demand and supply in the education market.
Cheat India, co-produced by Emraan Hashmi with Ellipsis Entertainment and T-Series, will be released on 25 January 2019.
