Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tie the knot in traditional style at Lake Como

The Padmaavat (2018) co-stars tied the knot at a tightly secured destination wedding at the Italian resort on Children's Day.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot in the absence of media glare and cell phones at their Lake Como destination venue on 14 November.

The date also happens to be India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's birthday.

The couple reportedly tied the knot in a traditional Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin ceremony before exchanging rings.

The security at the venue was intensified, preventing any pictures or videos from leaking out either to the media or on social media.

The couple also requested guests not to bring cell phones along to the wedding.

This did not prevent director Karan Johar, a close friend of the bride and the groom, from sharing his wishes for them on Twitter.

The couple departed for their wedding destination at the Villa Del Balbianello at Lake Como on 12 November. The next day saw a lavish mehndi ceremony.

The wedding took place today, with Ranveer Singh making an entry at the venue to the tune of 'Tune Maari Entriyaan' from his film Gunday (2014).

The Times Now television channel reported that the venue was decked out with florists from Florence using lilies.

Reports suggest that guests to the wedding were marked with wristbands and had their cell phone cameras covered with stickers in a very strict 'no-phone-camera' rule enforced at the couple's behest.

Padukone is expected to wear a Sabyasachi ensemble for the Anand Karaj tomorrow.

The couple is expected back in India next week. There will be two receptions held by the family in Bangalore and Mumbai on 21 November and 28 November, respectively.
