Brahmastra, the most ambitious project yet of Dharma Productions, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, was initially set to be released on Independence Day in 2019, but has now been pushed to Christmas.
Producer Karan Johar made the announcement on Twitter.

The exact date will be announced later, but the first part of the superhero franchise will come around the Christmas weekend.
By changing its date, Brahmastra has averted a clash with Fox Star Studio’s Mission Mangal, which stars Akshay Kumar and is scheduled to hit the screens on 26 January, a Thursday. Nikkhil Advani's Batla House, starring John Abraham, is also slated to be released on the same day.
If nothing changes, this will be the second successive Independence Day clash between John Abraham and Akshay Kumar. This year, John’s action-drama Satyameva Jayate clashed with Akshay’s fancied Gold at the box office.
There is also the Dinesh Vijan-produced Made In China, starring Rajkummar Rao and Mouni Roy, but there is a strong possibility of this film shifting to another date.
Sajid Nadiadwala had announced Kick 2 with Salman Khan and the producer was targeting a Christmas week release in 2019 too. However, there is no development on the project as yet. Khan is currently filming for Bharat, and is expected to commence work on Dabangg 3 thereafter.
Brahmastra has been planned as a three-film franchise.with Ayan Mukerji helming all of them.
