The duo of Sajid-Wajid had collaborated with Pakistani singer Rahat Ali Khan and produced a couple of memorable tracks like 'Dagabaaz Re' and 'Tere Mast Mast Do Nain'. They have now created the 'Nikamma' track from the film, 3 Dev. 'Nikamma' pales in comparison to the Dabangg franchise tracks. This 'Nikamma' is different from the popular 'Nikamma Kiya Is Dil Ne' from Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa (2002)
The primary flaw of 'Nikamma' is the uninspiring, average lyrics. Surprisingly, Kausar Munir, who penned melodious songs for Secret Superstar (2017), has penned 'Nikamma'. Romantic songs needn’t necessarily be poetic, and mere rhyming of words, backed by good music and singing, can still make them enjoyable. The problem with 'Nikamma' is that the lyrics just don't lift your mood.
While the lyrics are average, one cannot find fault with the music. Sajid-Wajid have come up with a soft, delightful melody. The opening tune is really promising and it lulls you into believing that this is going to be a memorable romantic melody, but once the lyrics hit, it kills the fun.
The average lyrics notwithstanding, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan chips in with a commendable performance — the mark of a quality singer.
Actor Karan Singh Grover's fans simply love the sight of him, but actress Poonam Kaur is a delight to watch. She wins you over with her simplicity.
Actor Kunaal Roy Kapur sports a rustic look with a twirly moustache, and his melodrama in the song is reminiscent of old-school romance.
While the lyrics aren’t great, the song can still be watched for its soft music and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s fine performance. 3 Dev will be released on 1 June.
