While it might be assumed that the makers want to avoid clashing with Meghna Gulzar's Raazi on 11 May, Khurana claims the change in plans is only for promotional purposes.

Even though Akarsh Khurana's High Jack has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a 'U/A' certificate, the makers are finding it difficult to stick to a release date.
Earlier scheduled to hit the screens on 11 May, High Jack will now be released on 18 May. The makers issued a new poster announcing the new release date.
It would not be wrong to assume that the High Jack team wants to avoid clashing with Meghna Gulzar's Raazi, which will be released on 11 May. However, director Khurana claimed that competition is not the reason for the change in plans, but the time is required for promotional purposes.
“It’s not competition but we pushed the release because we want to publicise the film more. There was a delay because of the which the buzz that was created earlier was lost. We have about ten days to promote the film recreate that buzz," Khurana told Cinestaan.com.
Late last month, CBFC's 'U/A' certification with minor cuts for the stoner comedy came as a surprise even for the film's team. “Earlier, there were fears that there could be many cuts, but from what I know, the film has been cleared with minimum cuts. A few cuss words have been removed. CBFC found our film very entertaining. We were expecting the film to get an ‘A’ certification but were pleasantly surprised with the film getting a 'U/A' certificate," lead actor Sumeet Vyas had informed Cinestaan.com.
