Rabindranath Tagore's short story of Kabuliwala has been adapted to the big screen famously by Bimal Roy in 1961. The story is now set to be transported to a more modern era, with the touch of nostalgia and humanity intact. The teaser to Deb Medhekar's Bioscopewala captures the elusive, but kind stranger who has gone missing from a child's life.

The teaser offers a glimpse into the life of the bioscopewala (Danny Denzongpa) and his interactions with the children of the neighbourhood. As they stand mesmerised by the pictures and images that he carries within his bioscope, he enjoys their company as a reminder of the life he left behind.

Medhekar's film transforms the Afghani chickpea seller from Tagore's story into a modern 'bioscope' carrier. The teaser also suggests that the tale picks off from where Tagore's story ended.

Gitanjali Thapa plays the grown-up little girl who sets out in search of the 'bioscope' man who dissappeared suddenly one day. The sepia tint of the teaser adds to its nostalgic value, while the presence of Denzongpa brings back memories of olden days.

The film is produced by Handmade Productions and presented by Fox Star Studios in association with Star Entertainment. Bioscopewala will be released on 25 May.
