Yash Raj Films (YRF), the producers of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, announced that they were pushing their release date to March 2019 as they need more time to finish it. The film was supposed to originally hit the screens on 3 August 2018. Karwaan, starring Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithala Palkar, was due to be released a week later.
However, with the makers of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar deciding to release the film on 1 March 2019, Karwaan team has leapt up to occupy their spot. The film, directed by Akarsh Khurana, will hit the screens on 3 August 2018.

Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP, producer of Karwaan, announced the news hours after YRF revealed their intention to postpone Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.
Karwaan, the story of three lost souls on a road trip, introduces actor Dulquer Salmaan to Hindi cinema. Dulqer, the son of Malayalam actor Mammootty, is already an established star in Malayalam cinema and has signed his second Hindi film with Abhishek Sharma, titled The Zoya Factor, opposite Sonam Kapoor.
Palkar, who became an overnight star with her cup-song on YouTube, had a small role as Imran Khan's sister in Katti Batti (2015). The actress appeared in the lead role in last year's Marathi film Muramba (2017). This will be her first lead role in a Hindi film.
Dulquer and Palkar will share the screen with Irrfan Khan in Karwaan. The film's poster had touted the film as being "a journey of a lifetime" with the characters ferrying two dead bodies across a distance.
