Actress Parineeti Chopra's wait for her next film just got longer. Chopra, who was last seen in Golmaal Again, that released in Diwali 2017, was reuniting with her Ishaqzaade (2012) co-star Arjun Kapoor for Dibakar Banerjee's Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. The film was due to be released on 3 August 2018.

Today, Yash Raj Films (YRF) announced that the film has been pushed back to 1 March 2019. The road movie features Kapoor as a Haryanvi cop, Sandeep, while Chopra, as Pinky, plays a young professional from the corporate world. The film is based on their numerous encounters with each other.

In a press release, director Banerjee said, "I feel this is my first film all over again, at least in terms of the excitement with the material. Sandeep and Pinky bring to screen the two Indias that are forever clashing. I want the audience not to lose a second of that. We finished the shoot one month late because of the intense weather conditions on the Indo-Nepal border. I don't want Sandeep and Pinky to be shortchanged on edit time. YRF agreed with my request and so we are pressing on together to the new date. 2019 is when India chooses its future. I'm looking forward to release in that year and choose mine."

Rohan Malhotra, vice president of distribution at YRF, elaborated that the two artistes are also scheduled to appear in Namaste England on Dussehra (19 October 2018) and they could ask the makers of Namaste England to change their date, but chose not to.

"It would have been unfair for us to request them to shift their film. Also, we wanted to have a gap between these two films as it features the same star cast and given the extremely busy release calendar of this year, we feel 1 March is the best date for our movie to open," Malhotra said.

Kapoor also took to Twitter explaining his fans that "some stories need time to stir & present to the world #SandeepAurPinkyFaraar is one such story... I promise u the wait will be more than worth it..."

Besides Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Namaste England, Kapoor also has Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat (2019) and Raj Kumar Gupta's India's Most Wanted (2019).

Chopra's films have released after long gaps. She returned to the big screen with Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017) after two-and-a-half-years, post starring in Kill Dill (2014). Unfortunately, the romance opened opposite the blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). She bounced back with the 100-crore hit Golmaal Again, but that was an ensemble comedy, featuring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu and others.

The actress has also signed up for the period drama Kesari (2019) with Akshay Kumar. The film slated to be released in the same month as Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar in March. Therefore, with almost a year between Golmaal Again and Namaste England, it's going be another long wait for Chopra.
