Manisha Koirala to play Sanjay Dutt's wife in Prasthanam remake?


It will mark the first such appearance of the two artistes together since Mehbooba in 2008.

Actress Manisha Koirala will play Sanjay Dutt's mother in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Now, the actress has also been roped in play Dutt's wife in Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, Prasthanam (2010). It will mark the first such appearance of the two artistes together since Mehbooba (2008).

The film will be preoduced by Dutt himself. The Telugu film went on to win 2 Filmfare (South) awards, among many others before becoming a cult hit.

The remake of the film will be helmed by director Deva Katta. Speaking about the role, the director said, "Each character in Prasthanam has a very strong role to play for which we needed actors with great caliber. When the team came up with the idea to cast Manisha Koirala to play onscreen wife of Sanjay Dutt it was a perfect match in my mind. I am looking forward to directing them both especially since they are coming back together after 10 years."

Dutt and Koirala have shared screen in 8 films, beginning from Yalgaar (1992).

Prasthanam will also star Ali Fazal and Amyra Dastur, and will go on floors on 1 June.
