Director Hansal Mehta confirmed that he had to make do without the scene, as it did not affect the narrative in any way.

Actor Rajkummar Rao’s Omertà, which was supposed to be released on 20 April, will hit the theatres on 4 May. The film had run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and was cleared with an 'A' certificate with a couple of minor cuts. It has been revealed that one cut that the CBFC asked director Hansal Mehta to make is the nude scene of the lead actor.

“That scene was not intended for titillation. I would never do that. It depicts Omar Sheikh's violence and his state of mind before he embarked on one of his evil acts. Some member of the CBFC got the essence of this scene, but had to ask for it to be done away with because of the guidelines. It doesn't hamper the film's narrative in any way so I had to accept it,” Mehta told the tabloid Mumbai Mirror.

Hansal Mehta: Never felt entitlement or that I am a great filmmaker

Omertà is based on the life of Pakistani terrorist Omar Saeed Sheikh.
