Director Abhishek Sharma’s Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran has managed an average collection in its first weekend at the domestic box office. The film, starring John Abhraham and Diana Penty, earned Rs20.25 crore during the period, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

The film opened with an average Rs4.75 crore on Friday (25 May), but saw a jump on Saturday (26 May) with Rs7.25 crore. Usually, it is expected that the numbers will grow further on Sunday. However, the film managed only Rs8.25 crore.

It is believed that films currently running in theatres were affected yesterday owing to the final match of the Indian Premier League.

The grand total of Parmanu, Rs20.25 crore, isn’t disappointing, but it is far from the film's budget — Rs45-50 crore. Parmanu will need to maintain its earnings during the weekdays and the coming weekend to break even.

Shashanka Ghosh's Veere Di Wedding, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, to be released next Friday (1 June), might prove to be a tough competition for Parmanu.

Meanwhile, Deb Medhekar’s Bioscopewala, starring Danny Denzongpa and Geetanjali Thapa, also released on Friday (25 May) failed at the box office despite good reviews.
