Noblemen teaser: Kunal Kapoor brings up the dark violence of bullying

Produced by Saregama's Yoodlee Films and directed by Vandana Kataria, the film premiered at the New York Indian Film Festival 2018.

Actor Kunal Kapoor's next film, Nobleman, will see him take on the role of a teacher tackling the issue of bullying and harassment among students. The film will be directed by Vandana Kataria and produced by Saregama's Yoodlee Films.

The teaser offers a glimpse into the dark underbelly of bullying prevalent in hostels and boarding schools. Ali Haji plays young Shay who is struggling to find his way through a school staging of The Merchant Of Venice, as he is roughed up and violently attacked by his fellow students. Kunal Kapoor plays Murali, the theatre instructor who helps the young student face his worst fears and channel it onto the stage. However, this does not always work out in the right way.

The minute long teaser is dark, intriguing and backed with the vocals of an adapted version of Sahir Ludhianvi's lyrics from 'Ye Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaaye' from Guru Dutt's film Pyaasa (1957). The song works effectively to create a sense of futility and helplessness against the violent events depicted.

Noblemen has already received critical acclaim. The film premiered at the New York Indian Film Festival 2018, and won Ali Haji the award for Best Child Actor.
