Box office: Deadpool 2 bags Rs41 crore; Raazi inches closer to Rs100 crore mark


Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, earned Rs34.50 crore nett in its second week, taking its India total to Rs90.68 crore nett.

After a bright opening of around Rs10 crore nett, Marvel Universe franchise film Deadpool 2's collections were Rs41 crore nett in the first week, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. According to the trade magazine, Deadpool 2 hasn’t grown as expected.

The dubbed Hindi version of the superhero film was voiced by actor Ranveer Singh, who stepped into the shoes of Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds. Distributed by Fox Star Studios in India, Deadpool 2 was released in across 2,000 screens in India.

Meanwhile, Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is looking good to cross the Rs100 crore nett mark. The film earned Rs34.50 crore nett in its second week, taking its India total so far to Rs90.68 crore nett.

Made at an estimated budget of Rs40 crore nett, Raazi was released across 1,200 screens in India. The film has already recovered Rs20 crore through satellite, music and digital rights.  

Raazi has been declared a hit. Five months into 2018, Hindi cinema has seen only its fourth hit of the year. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat amassed over Rs280 crore nett, followed by Baaghi 2 that made Rs160 crore nett. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was the surprise hit of the year, bagging over Rs100 crore nett.

John Abraham's Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran hit the theatres today. The film has got mixed reviews. If Parmanu fails to get a good opening, it is likely to augur well for Raazi.
