The first teaser of the Marathi movie Maska gave an idea that it is an adult comedy. However, the trailer shows a different side. It is quite confusing to pin what the film is about. Giving the makers the benefit of doubt, we hope this is their way of not revealing the main story.
The trailer is quite interesting. It seems the story is about two friends, played by Aniket Vishwasrao and Chinmay Mandlekar. The former is conned by the charm of a beautiful young woman, Maya (Prarthana Behere).
Maska also has an angle featuring Shashank Shende and a mentally challenged youngster. This track is the confusing one.
The film seems to be high on quirky humour, evident from conversations between Vishwasrao and Mandlekar. The dialogue about eating biscuits by dipping them into whiskey and gulab jamun in mutton curry evoke chuckles. The two seem to be having a good chemistry.
It is also good to see Behere, who has largely played girl-next-door roles, trying out something different.
Priyadarshan Jadhav has been acting in Marathi films for a few years. He dons the director's hat for the first time in Maska. He has also written the film.
Maska will be released on 1 June.
