Actor Sanjay Dutt will begin shooting for his home production Prasthaanam from 1 June, a day that marks the 89th birth anniversary of his late mother, actress Nargis. The film is the remake of Telugu film, Prasthanam (2010). Deva Katta, who helmed the original will be directing the Hindi remake, too.
Primarily, said to be a family drama, the film will be set against a political backdrop. Prasthaanam also has actors Ali Fazal and Amyra Dastur in pivotal roles. There were rumours that actor Sooraj Pancholi was in the fray to play Dutt's son in the film. Sources had earlier told us that Pancholi was never even offered the film.
Dutt will return to production after seven years. His last home production Rascals (2011) turned out to be a dud.
The original Telugu film had featured Sai Kumar, Sharwananand Myneni, Jeeva and Parihar. That film revolved around the principal character Loknathan Naidu (Sai Kumar) who takes on the reins of a political party out of an obligation.
Before taking up Prasthaanam, Dutt was shooting for Torbaaz. The actor has also signed on for Dharma Productions' Kalank. Fazal has had a good 2017. His film Fukrey Returns (2017) was a commercial success, and the actor also got his big break in Hollywood with Victoria & Abdul (2017).
