Vinod Kapri's Pihu has found two new saviours in the form of Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. The two former UTV head honchos will co-produce and distribute Kapri's film. This is the first collaboration between Screwvala's RSVP Pictures and Roy Kapur Films.

Vinod Kapri's Pihu opened the Indian Panorama section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year, and is now scheduled to be released in theatres on 3 August.

IFFI 2017: Even a small film with good content can get an opening, says Pihu director Vinod Kapri

The film revolves around the story of a two-year-old girl, who accidentally locks herself in a refrigerator while alone in a room.

In an interview with us during IFFI in November 2017, Kapri had said, "The film is not really about children, it’s about adults because the child is in a situation created by adults. We say that every child deserves a parent but I do not think that every parent deserves a child."

IFFI 2017: Controversy was unfortunate, but there are 26 other films too, says Pihu director Vinod Kapri

The film has already been critically acclaimed and invited to international film festivals in Vancouver, Palm Springs, Iran, Morocco and Germany in 2017.

In a statement, Kapur said, "It’s always thrilling to come across directors who want to tell stories that disrupt the status quo using bold new narrative styles."
