Actor Rajinikanth, who is gearing up to formally launch his political party, has announced that women will be given preference over men in both his political outfit, Rajini Makkal Mandram, and the official party that he is going to launch soon.
The actor, off late, has been having discussions with the office bearers of Rajini Makkal Mandram about his party, which he is in the process of launching.
After one such meeting with the women's wing members of the Rajini Makkal Mandram at his Poes Garden residence, Rajinikanth said, "Rajini Makkal Mandram has evoked a great response among women in the state. I am really very happy with this development. Victory is certain to come to a place where there are women. I am delighted by the enthusiasm shown by women everywhere. Everybody knows that those countries that have given women importance and preference over men have developed. Be it Rajini Makkal Mandram or the political party that I am to launch, women will get maximum preference over men. I will involve them in all activities."
When a mediaperson raised a question on actor Kamal Haasan's recent statement that he would have to think about having an alliance with Rajinikanth, if the latter intended to do "spiritual politics", Rajinikanth replied, "I haven't started the party yet. Where is the question of having an alliance?"
To a question on what his views were on the recent development of Karnataka chief minister Yeddyurappa resigning before a floor test, Rajinikanth replied, "The governor giving him 15 days time to prove his strength on the floor of the house is a mockery (of justice). They must not have done that. However, the Supreme Court has given a good verdict."
