Ziprya teaser: Shoeshine boy's story based on acclaimed author Arun Sadhu’s book

 Debutant director Kedar Vaidya’s Marathi movie Ziprya is based on the late author Arun Sadhu’s Marathi novel of the same name. It tells the story of people belonging to the lowest strata of society in the lanes and bylanes of Mumbai.

The recently released teaser of Ziprya gives a sketchy idea about the story of the film. The makers have included too many incidents in the one-minute teaser. The film has shades of the recently released Hindi film Beyond The Clouds, directed by Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi and featuring Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan.

Going by the teaser, the story seems to revolve around Ziprya (Chinmay Kambli), who works as a shoeshine boy on one of the railway stations in Mumbai. He dreams of making it big in the city, but circumstances suck him into a web of unprecedented events. This affects Ziprya’s relationship with his elder sister (Amruta Subhash). Prathamesh Parab plays his close friend.

Parab has become a known name after his memorable acts in Balak Palak (2012) and Time Pass (2014). The film is promoted using his name. However, he doesn’t get much footage in the teaser.

Author Sadhu, who passed away last year, was responsible for Jabbar Patel’s acclaimed Marathi film Simhasan (1979) which was based on his books Simhasan and Mumbai Dainik. He was also the co-writer of Patel’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar (2000).

Ziprya will be out in theatres on 22 June.
