After scoring well for his performance in the 2017 wedding drama, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Rajkummar Rao is set to venture in another film of the same genre. Namrata Singh Gujral's 5 Weddings will star Rao and actress Nargis Fakhri and tells the story of a journalist (Fakhri) who is in India for a magazine feature on weddings, only to have an over-enthusiastic cop (Rao) who suspects it as being a cover for spying.
The first poster of the international production has Rao and Fakhri front and centre. The film is set to have a world premiere at the upcoming Cannes International Film Festival next week.
Set to be released in India, US, and Canada on 24 August, the film also stars Golden Globe nominee Bo Derek, and Academy award nominee Candy Clark.
Director Gujral, in a quote to the Indian Express, a daily, had said last week, "I am so thrilled that the fruits of our labour are around the corner. 5 Weddings will have its global premiere at Cannes next month. It will be the first time audiences will be able to watch the film. It is immensely exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. Americans are loving the film – so, I hope the French like it too."
