Suraj Sharma returns to American television with new role on CBS show God Friended Me

Actor Suraj Sharma, who shot to fame worldwide with his starring role in Ang Lee's Life Of Pi (2012), is returning to American televison with a supporting part on the upcoming CBS show God Friended Me.
Sharma had a memorable stint in 2014 on the award-winning series Homeland as Pakistani student Aayan Ibrahim, alongside Claire Danes.
God Friended Me is part of the CBS network's fall schedule and will be aired on Sundays at 9 pm.

The actor will star as computer professional Rakesh Sehgal, who helps his friend Miles Finer, played by Brandon Michael Hall, figure out who is actually behind the God account that has friended him on Facebook.
Miles, the son of Reverend Arthur (Joe Morton), does not believe in god and runs a podcast disputing the presence of a divine figure.
Actresses Violett Beane and Javicia Leslie are also part of the show as journalist Cara Bloom and Miles's sister Ali, respectively.
Sharma, who graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in the filmmaking programme, had two releases in 2017 — Bornila Chatterjee's The Hungry and Anshai Lal's Phillauri.
When the actor spoke to Cinestaan.com last year, he had said, "I’m focusing on acting primarily. I’m pretty interested in writing and directing at a certain level, but I don’t really think I have reached a point where I should be getting into that."
Besides this weekly television, Sharma has lined up a number of interesting Hollywood and international projects like The Illegal (2018), Killerman (2018) with Liam Hemsworth, and the sequel to the horror hit Happy Death Day.
