The song touting female friendships would have benefitted if it had female voices front and centre.

How do you get over a broken engagement and cancellation of a wedding? By getting together with your friends, of course! The latest song from Shashanka Ghosh's Veere Di Wedding, 'Veere' has the gang of girls, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, taking their friend, Kareena Kapoor Khan, to Phuket, Thailand, to get over her relationship and broken nuptials.
In the video, Kalindi (Kapoor Khan) is shown wallowing after calling off her wedding. But her friends always have her back as Sakshi (Bhasker) suggests a Thailand vacation. Soon, the four friends are packed and away for a tranquil getaway by the beach, accompanied by some crazy party nights, here and there.
Kalindi is seen marking out the 'bride' label from her fake 'bride-to-be' tiara and indulging in some fun times by the poolside. The gals also make it a night out to remember as they go to nightclubs, dance atop bars, and explore Thailand's night life. Basically, this is their chance to let loose after some stressful times.
The song has been written and composed by Vishal Mishra who has also sung the track. Female singers Aditi Singh Sharma, Lulia Vantur, Dhvani Bhanushali, Nikita Ahuja, Payal Dev and Sharvi Yadav have been listed as voices on the song. However, besides a small section of the song being sung by female singer, Mishra dominates the song which is touting female friendships. The six female voices seem to have been relegated to the chorus. This is quite disappointing.
As an anthem, 'Veere' would have been the perfect song to showcase female singers for a film about four women and their friendship. The question is — if this film was about four men, would the makers opt for a female singer to give voice to their friendship?
