Director Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi, which stars Harshvardhan Kapoor, has been postponed to 1 June. The film was earlier supposed to be released a week earlier, on 25 May. It will now clash with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania-starrer, Veere Di Wedding.
With a common release date, siblings Harshvardhan and Sonam will have their respective films clash at the box office.
The makers feel that 1 June is a safer date. An official statement said: “The makers believe 1 June is a better date from a distributional point of view. It has a greater audience potential and is a safe distance away from holdover Hindi and English releases. The film will get better and more number of shows and 1 June as a date has a greater audience potential.”
Bhavesh Joshi has avoided a clash with Abhishek Sharma’s Parmanu, starring John Abraham and Diana Penty, and Madhuri Dixit Nene’s Marathi film debut, Bucket List, which will be out in theatres on 25 May. The postponement will also avoid a clash with Hollywood franchise films Deadpool 2 (to be released on 18 May) and Solo: A Star Wars Story (to be released on 25 May).
Along with Veere Di Wedding and Bhavesh Joshi, the third film to be released on 1 June is Phamous. Phamous is directed by Karan Butani and features Jackie Shroff and Jimmy Sheirgill.
Bhavesh Joshi is the story of a common man who fights injustice in his unique way. Veere Di Wedding is a story about four friends dealing with different situations in life.
