From the time its first teaser came out, Vikramaditya Motwane's Bhavesh Joshi: Superhero has promised to be something different, even funky. The first song from the film, 'Chyawanprash', is right in the zone by that measure. The song, composed by Amit Trivedi, is a hilarious earworm that stands out for its lyrics and composition.
The song is set in a fight club where Harshvardhan Kapoor's Bhavesh Joshi steps into the ring to test his skills. By his angry look, it seems his character has finally decided to test his skills in the rough streets. The film's teaser and trailer have already shown Kapoor's character resorting to training and vigilantism after his friend is killed.
While the setting for the song is quite serious, the song itself is a riot. Arjun Kapoor's special appearance lightens the mood and adds colour in his typical style. Arjun Kapoor plays the rowdy romeo on whom the song is picturized. While the younger Kapoor goes around spilling blood in the fighting ring, Arjun romances the ladies and preaches the new health secret of chyawanprash-filled chummas, or kisses.
Composed by Amit Trivedi, the song has a funky, trippy rhythm that takes you back a decade. The lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya are filled with the most irreconcilable terms that create hilarious imagery, making this a song for repetitive listening. While some of the lines might seem crass, it is fun in a silly sort of way.
Trivedi's eclectic turn in music does not dissappoint as he uses Divya Kumar's unique vocals to the maximum. The song also has Pragati Joshi and Arohi Mhatre backing up Kumar, as he delivers Bhattacharya's crazy lyrics in his own style.
