From Janhvi Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan, stars celebrate Happy Mother's Day on social media

As the world celebrated Mother's Day on the 13 May, the film industry also joined in celebrating mothers of the world. Karan Johar, who turned father a year ago, wrote a touching message for his mother, Hiroo Johar, on his Twiter. 

"Dear mother....you raise the bar of unconditional love...every other emotion is deeply envious of you.... how can you protect yourself when the word “protect” was given birth to by you...." wrote Johar. 

He was not alone. His co-star, Kajol, used the most current analogy to describe her mother. Even as the 'Avengers' phenomenon has just faded off, Kajol dedicated her 'superpower' to her mom. 

Even the 75-year old Amitabh Bachchan was no stranger from feeling for his mother. The actor shared an image of his own mother, the late Teji Bachchan, through Twitter. 

Bachchan even shared another image of his two kids, Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan, hugging their mother, Jaya Bachchan on the special day. 

One half of the Bachchan family, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aradhya Bachchan, were in Cannes attending the prestigious film festival. The actress shared a picture of her mother, and daughter, on her Instagram together. 

Choreographer-director Farah Khan shared a picture of herself celebrating the day with her mother, and mother-in-law on a film set. 

However, the mother of three did not lose her sense of humour, and shared a picture that reflected the complaints of a million Indian mothers across the planet. 

Actress Janhvi Kapoor shared a touching picture of mother, Sridevi, from her childhood album. While there was no accompanying post, the picture was enough to tell the story of Kapoor, who lost her mother earlier this year. 

Actress Katrina Kaif shared a rare picture of her mother, wishing her a Happy Mother's Day on her Instagram as well. 

Actress Sonakshi Sinha shared a picture of herself with mother, Poonam Sinha. She wrote 'Happy Mothers day to my first role model, my first love and my first friend! Missing you, cant wait to come back and trouble you, a whole months quota awaits you [sic]!' 

Actresses Yami Gautam and Taapsee Pannu turned back the pages by sharing old pictures of themselves with their mother from the family albums. 

Actress Priyanka Chopra chose to share a picture of mom, producer Madhu Chopra, smiling on a holiday as a reminder of her worth in her life. The actress has often credited her mother for managing her production, Purple Pebble Pictures. 

Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) actress Kriti Sanon too delved into her family album to share a picture of herself as a kid piggybacking on her mother. 'Missing my “Aata-bori” days.. hehe.. Happy Mothers Day to the prettiest Mom ever!!!,' wrote the actress. 

Actor Randeep Hooda, too, shared a picture of his mother with a quote that read 'Nothing beats having a good laugh with ones mother .. it’s a day well spent' 

The 'maa' sentiment might be one that has ruled Indian cinema for almost a century, and it looks like it is no different in real life either.
