While director Pratim D Gupta’s upcoming film Ahare Mon is yet to hit the screens, his next thriller Ink is already making news. Though the director kept the project a secret, his entire team was spotted shooting for the film in a local mall in Kolkata.
Ink features Paoli Dam and Ritwick Chakraborty in the lead roles. The two actors were previously seen together in Gupta’s Maacher Jhol (2017). In the film, Dam plays a celebrated actress, while Ritwick will be seen enacting the role of a journalist working for an English daily. The story of the film revolves around the strange relationship that the two share.
Filmmaker Goutam Ghose, actors Shankar Chakraborty, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Chintrangada Chakraborty and Swaroopa Ghosh will also be playing important roles in the film.
The script of Ink was selected for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab in 2014 by the team of creative advisors that included The Reluctant Fundamentalist and The Hoax famed screenwriter William Wheeler; Joshua Martson, Asif Kapadia, Sabrina Dhawan, Martin Noxon and Carlos Cuaron. In fact, Irrfan Khan, who also happened to be one of the members of the advisory board, was so impressed by the script that he called Gupta to seek permission to direct the film.
However, Gupta was determined to direct the film himself. He had previously planned to make the film in Hindi and also had Khan in mind to play the role of the journalist.
As the film is not music-oriented, Gupta is yet to decide on the composer. The director of photography of the film is Subhankar Bhar.
