Meghna Gulzar's Raazi, starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, had an impressive first day at the box office yesterday (11 May). The film earned Rs7.50 crore on Friday in India, as per figures shared by boxofficeindia.com.
Raazi has become the fifth highest opener of 2018. But more importantly, it is the fourth highest opener for female-centric Hindi films in India. The first three films in the list are Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) with Rs8.61 crore, Mary Kom (2014) with Rs8.32 crore and Ragini MMS 2 (2014) with Rs7.93 crore.
As per trade sources, Raazi is made at a budget of Rs40 crore. Given its performance on the first day, the film has a good chance of making profits soon. However, to reach there, the spy thriller will need to improve its box office performance during the weekend.
Meanwhile, 102 Not Out completed its first week at the domestic box office with an average number — Rs27 crore. Yesterday, its second Friday, the film made Rs1.75 crore. 102 Not Out, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, has so far earned a total of Rs28.75 in India.
