Veteran actress Sridevi passed on 24 February this year in her hotel room in Dubai due to accidental drowning. Soon after the news became public, various theories floated around on the cause of her death.

Filmmaker Sunil Singh had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into the late actress's death after it was rejected by Delhi high court. However, the apex court has dismissed the petition too.

NDTV.com quoted the chief justice of India, Dipak Misra, as saying, "We can't interfere with the probe. We had already dismissed two petitions on the same issue. We can't interfere," the chief justice reiterated.

Vikas Singh, the petitioner’s lawyer, had claimed that Sridevi had a Rs240 crore insurance policy in her name in Oman and the money could be released only if she passed away in the United Arab Emirates.

However, the forensic report in Dubai had made it clear that the actress's death was accidental.
