The film's trailer got a positive response, but the first song to be released online, 'Mundiyan', wasn’t too great.
Now, the makers of Baaghi 2 have released a new song, 'O Saathi', and the first thing that strikes you is that the singer’s name is missing from the credits.
It does not take a genius to guess that the voice in the track belongs to the Pakistani singer Atif Aslam. And in all probability, the producers withheld Aslam’s name to avoid attracting the attention of the anti-Pakistan brigade, currently led by out-of-work singer Babul Supriyo, who is now a Union minister.
Supriyo had only last month slammed the producers of Welcome To New York for roping in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for a couple of songs in the film and called for his voice to be replaced.
Coming to the song itself, 'O Saathi' is not very impressive. The main problem with the track is the boring, half-baked lyrics by Arko Pravo Mukherjee. The mukhda and antara are hollow and fail to strike a chord with the listener.
The music, also by Arko, is not very endearing either. In the second half of the song it does get better, but the uninspiring lyrics act as a deadweight and never let the track soar.
What can you say about the singer when the song itself is poor? Perhaps, Atif Aslam himself won't rate this effort highly.
To make matters worse, the shoddy visuals, especially of Tiger Shroff lending a shoulder to Disha Patani to help her work out, makes this a track that one can easily give a miss. If you are an ardent fan of Shroff or Patani, then watch the 'O Saathi' track below:
