Two weeks on, director Luv Ranjan's romantic comedy Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety continues to go steady at the box office. The film, starring Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha, made Rs27.50 crore nett in its second week, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com. The film has so far made Rs71.50 crore nett in its India business.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs40 crore, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was released across 1,500 sceens in India. It is the second hit of the year after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavaat.
Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma’s Pari had a low first week at Rs20 crore nett. Made at an estimated budget of Rs18 crore (production house figure, while the trade figure is pegged at Rs30 crore), Pari was released in more than 1,500 screens in India.
The mixed reviews didn't really help Pari’s cause and the film failed to capitalise on the Holi holiday weekend.
With no major releases today, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety can expect a decent third weekend, especially if the new releases (Hate Story IV, 3 Storeys and Dil Juunglee) fail to get going.
