Mercury teaser: Prabhu Deva plays the disfigured hunter in this speechless thriller

Directed by Kartik Subbaraj, the film is being promoted as a 'no-language' film without any dialogues.

Prabhu Deva is not a name often connected to the horror genre, but that is set to change with Kartik Subbaraj's Mercury. The film's teaser captures the actor playing the disfigured man on the trail of a group of hikers who accidentally land up in his town.

The film is being promoted as a 'silent' horror film with no dialogues. However, this does not mean that there is no sound in the film. The music and the background score adds to the chills, but fails to keep in the suspense.

The story revolves around a group of documentary filmmakers who set out to explore the truth behind an entire village which perished due to mercury poisoning, except for one man who is set to keep the truth under wraps.

The teaser begins well, with the eerie silence and scared faces adding to the palpable tension. But it is Prabhu Deva's entry as the disfigured man that adds to the mystery of the film. This will be one of the rare films where the actor plays a macabre ghost/killer.

Mercury is produced by Pen Studios and Stone Bench films. The film is set to be released on Friday, 13 April.
