Anushka, Twinkle, Sonam, Kriti celebrate Women's Day with inspirational tweets

8 March is celebrated as International Women's Day.  This is a day to celebrate womanhood. Hindi film actresses wished their comrades with inspirational messages.

Here are a few Women’s Day messages posted on Twitter by some of the leading actresses.

Sonam Kapoor iterated that the day should not be restricted to one gender. She wrote: "The idea is not to highlight gender but to move away from the thinking that gender is a boundary at all. #WomensDay."

Anushka Sharma, whose father is an armyman, paid tribute to the women in the armed forces. "Bravo to all the women who show courage in the toughest situations in life. That's the true essence of being a woman," she posted.

Kriti Sanon opted to offer beauty tips of a different kind.

Bhumi Pednekar was thrilled to learn that a few school girls are inspired by her film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), and are making others in school aware on the subject of hygiene. "This is just so lovely. What an amazing way to celebrate #WomensDay. Touched and super overwhelmed by this gesture. Keep empowering them and keep spreading the message. Kirti Kulhari posted an inspirational message in Hindi urging her fans to not curb women's freedom.

No matter what the occasion is, Twinkle Khanna never loses her sense of humour. On Women's Day, she called herself Kali Ma (Goddess Kali) ready to stab someone — "Early morning forward from a friend: Embrace your divine feminine power this #WomensDay. And it works because instantly I am in full Kali Ma mode wanting to stab him with my Trishul."

Shilpa Shetty Kundra underlined the power of a woman to give birth. "When God chose a WOMAN over a MAN to carry forward his work of bringing life on earth. He/She recognised the strength and abilities in “US “way before. Celebrate yourself everyday," she wrote.

Producer Ekta Kapoor chose to pay a tribute to the late actress Sridevi.

Aditi Rao Hydari opined that Women's Day should not just be celebrated on a single day in a year, and urged women to stand together and speak out against gender biases.
