Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next directorial to be shot in Kashmiri Pandit camps in Jammu

Filmmaker and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is returning to film direction after three years. Interestingly, his next project will be shot in Jammu and Kashmir and it is expected to be based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits.

Chopra will be shooting in the migrant camps of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu from 27 March onwards. KK Siddha, deputy commissioner (relief), Jammu told news agency PTI, “Vinod Chopra is scheduled to shoot his upcoming movie from 27 March to 7 April in the migrant camps.” He added that there won’t be any shoot on 29 and 31 March and 4 April.

The title of the film and the rest of the details are currently kept under wraps. Assistant director Ashiesh Nijhavan informed that the cast would mostly include fresh local faces from both genders and all age groups.

This is Chopra’s second directorial based in Kashmir. His first was Mission Kashmir (2000), starring Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Jackie Shroff and Sonali Kulkarni. His last directorial was Broken Horses (2015), which was the Hollywood remake of his iconic Hindi film Parinda (1989).

Currently, Chopra is producing Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. The film, which marks the directorial debut of Shelly Chopra Dhar, stars Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla.
