After fiery speech, Rajinikanth joins Facebook and Instagram


The veteran actor seems to be making an attempt to reach out to a larger audience through the social media channels.

His political might still be untested, but one cannot fault Rajinikanth for timing.

After his fiery speech at the Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute on the 5 March, the veteran actor created his accounts in social media platforms, Instagram and Facebook, as the next step in his political campaign.

True to his unique style, the actor made a splash on Instagram by posting a still of himself from his last film, Kabali (2016), with the quote, "Vanakkam! Vandhuten nu sollu!" (Hello! Tell them I have come!).

With only one post, the actor already has 94.9k followers on the platform.

The Facebook profile seems to be aimed at the actor's potential political demographic. The lead image has the actor posing in his trademark style, the profile has posts that allow fans to get immediate updates and information about the actor's next moves. It has already racked up over 151,000 likes and followers within a day.

Rajinikanth has been a member of Twitter for a while and enjoys over 4.5 million followers.

It is expected that Rajinikanth will soon make his political ambitions clear. While Kamal Haasan has already launched his political party, Rajinikanth, who pipped Haasan in announcing his political ambitions, is yet to declare the political platform he will choose. The expectation has gone up since the actor made his first public speech on Monday (5 March).
