Actors Arjun Rampal and Siddhant Kapoor who will next be seen in JP Dutta’s Paltan (2018) shared the film's first look poster online. It does not feature any stars, but has soldiers from India and China lined up with guns against each other on the frontlines.
The tagline on the poster reads, “1967 A true story that was never told”.
Rampal tweeted the poster and wrote, “So proud to be part of the #Paltan here is the first look. A story hidden from you, a story you must know about us.”
The year 1967 indicates that the film will be based on the Nathu La and Cho La military clashes of 1967 and not the Sino-Indian war of 1962 as was previously assumed. The conflicts of 1967 took place on the Sikkim border and India emerged the victor.
On 11 September, the Chinese attacked Indian posts at Nathu La. Four days later, the army drove the People's Liberation Army back. However, on 1 October, there was another clash at Cho La which ended that same day.
The film is likely to narrate the stories of the unnamed soldiers who were the real heroes of the conflicts.
Paltan’s all-star ensemble cast features Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Harshvardhan Rane, Luv Sinha, Siddhant Kapoor and Gurmeet Choudhary. The film is due to be released on 7 September 2018, 51 years after the clashes took place.
