In the trailer of Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid, the Sanskrit shloka ‘Saam Daam Dand Bhed’ is heard for some duration. The shloka forms a major part of the recently released song 'Black Jama Hai'.
The film sees Ajay Devgn in the role of an income tax officer, Amar Pattnaik. The song basically celebrates the protagonist’s dedication to carrying out raids against those who have stashed black money in their homes and offices. It helps in establishing the character of Pattnaik and adds to the excitement for the film.
Amit Trivedi's music creates the foot-tapping effect, while Sukhwinder Singh's vocals add the necessary power.
There comes a point when Devgn’s character has to carry out the most challenging raid of his life at the residence of a politician played by Saurabh Shukla. The song has interesting confrontations between the two characters. It brings back memories of Devgn’s confrontational sequences with Prakash Raj’s character Jaikant Shikre in the iconic Singham (2011).
But the moment that makes heads turn comes at the end of the song where a lady resembling India’s former prime minister Indira Gandhi makes an appearance. Incidentally, Devgn’s last year’s Baadshaho was based during Gandhi’s time as the PM.
Madhur Bhandarkar’s last film Indu Sarkar (2017) also had a character resembling Gandhi.
